With a strong showing of support, the voters of Volusia County recently demonstrated their commitment to quality education by approving a half-cent sales tax that will provide much needed construction to relieve the severe overcrowding in our schools. Mainland High School was one of the new schools constructed. Blessed with a wonderful location at the corners of Clyde Morris Blvd. and International Speedway Blvd. (formerly called Volusia Ave.) the School Board decided to build the "new" Mainland on our present site. Now that this modern three-story facility is complete the old buildings will be razed and a new athletics area and additional parking will be completed adjacent to Clyde Morris. It was time for change and the Buccaneer family will continue to thrive and excel in its 4th new facility as we begin another Century of Excellence. – Lee Phillips, Webmaster
